Over the weekend, I had to get fuel in our 2960. I put $100 in each tank at $4.89/gal... so roughly 20 gallons in each tank. We ran out to our hangout spot which is about 6 miles from the marina. I got up to 20-25 MPH for the first 4 miles. The last 2 require a slower pace, not much above idle speed. When we left I did those same 2 miles again at a little over idle speed and then turned and headed up river for about 2 miles at about 30 mph. I looked down at my fuel gauges and it appeared I had used about half of what I had put in earlier in the day. We are supposed to take a 60 mile trip up river in a few weeks and now I'm questioning this due to fuel costs.
I had the boat up on plane but now I'm questioning whether I have the bow too low. I adjusted the trim and trim tabs to get the bow about as low as I can. Even like this, I still have to stand up to see over the bow. Do I need to raise the bow a little or stay where I am? I am new to planing boats as we've always had pontoons in the past.
