Does anyone have the 2000ES with the 200 Gen 5 engine? What do you see for performance numbers? top speed? is the boat a performer with only a 200?

I've always been wary of buying a boat with the standard engine package. That being said, the Gen V engines are pretty awesome performers. (though, I still personally would never buy a boat with the standard package)

If it was the old Volvo 4.3, I would never do it but the gen5 is a beast and definitely see a major difference in get up and go. I haven’t decided if I will order new as I am very specific on colors and if I go new, I will go with the 240.

Have you looked at the Regal LS2? It is a little bigger than the 2000 and has a much more updated look.

Try boat test.com . They might have some performance info on your vessel?

Ours has the standard Gen 5 4.3 200hp engine. We are still in the break in phase but one quick top speed run saw the speedo hit 45 (not sure of accuracy). I am sure there is a bit more there once it is fully broken in and I can run at full throttle for more than a few seconds and play with the trim, but 45 is fast enough to suit me. It seems plenty strong in terms of acceleration and mid range.

My mistake was a 17' Lone Star with a 75 HP Evinrude. After about a year I was able to sell the 75 and bought a 105 HP Chrysler (yes, they are long gone) but they did all their testing on the lake in WI we leased a island on so got to know the test engineers and got a good deal on the 105 thru them (one was a college buddy of mine) . OK, a outboard powered boat is a lot different than a I/O but same principle?

The main reason was, in all my research, the 350 got on plane quicker than the 305 and to me that meant more than top speed. The 350 was slightly faster on top end, but it was the time to plane that made the difference.

Does anyone have the 2000ES with the 200 Gen 5 engine? What do you see for performance numbers? top speed? is the boat a performer with only a 200? Torque at low(er) RPM's will get you out of the hole quicker but HP at max. rated RPM will give a higher top speed. This is also Prop pitch /diameter/number of blades dependant. Same thing is true with automotive gasoline engine (diesels a different story) . Thoughts= a fully electric boat will have max torque at 0 RPM's like a car but only see a few fully electric boats out on the market now? We finally got our 4160 RPM from 3600 to roughly 4100 RPM at WOT after getting both props repaired. Interesting that only one prop (port) had some minor damage to two blade and the other (stbd) prob didn't have any visual signs of damage but one blade on it was out of pitch by almost 1", hard to see visually but prop shop ;measured it and found it. Most likely hit a sand bar which bent the one blade but didnt notice it while under power? Advice = Turn down stereo system while under way, turn it back up when anchored

Hey everyone, I actually recently purchased a 2019 2000 ES with the standard package. I was out on one over the summer and the power felt right to me, especially with the way the hull is designed. Also, I couldn't justify the additional expense of the larger engine.

These new volvo engines do pack a punch, I loved the Gen5 I had on my 1900 when I had it.

We go to Lake George a lot too! I hope the 2000 handles it OK!

Also, I couldn't justify the additional expense of the larger engine. The most important thing is that you a re happy with it, regardless of boat /engine size! We (a long time ago, late 70's) determined that when pulling up skiers on slalom skis the bigger the engine the faster the slalom skier got up on plane. If you don't ski behind it you will be just fine, and save a lot of money on fuel! Enjoy what you hav and maybe in a few years move up a notch on boat size and/or engine power
