I have a Fusion ms700ip stereo with a remote, in a new to me boat, first time I tried to power it up it took multiple pushes on power bottom to fire up, next time no luck getting any power, read manual and reset head unit as instructed, still no luck. Very strange as I only waited 1 hour between 1st successful power up and power up issues with boat in slip. Fusion Remote in cabin powers up, and reads “waiting on network”. Wondering if I just have a bad head unit, anyone experience this. Of course worked fine during boat survey.

I hate problems with my ud650. I did the software upgrade from the fusion site and I never had an issue after.

Can you do a software upgrade without being able to power up the unit, if so how do you do the upgrade, thanks

Push the power button for a minute and the unit should reset and come back to life. The software update is done via USB stick. Get the software from fusions website and plug the USB into the radio. If your head does not have a usb, there is a usb in the bundle behind the radio. Check to make sure your radio is powering down with the ignition key switch in the center position, radio essentially stayed on.

I had the same issues with the 700 series on my 28 express. The software update fixed it. about 2 years later I had to do another software update because it started acting up again.
I’ve had no issues with my ud650 on my 33 express.

That’s the problem, it won’t power up at all, no matter how many times I try to reset, no life on head unit at all

Thinking it might help am attaching manual for the RA-70N= Fusion_RA70_RA70N_OM_EN.pdf (1.33 MB)

Maybe the stereo is wired to only work with the key in the on/acc position? Have you tried turning the stereo on with the engine running ? Maybe a fuse or breaker is tripped?

That could be with the key position, I hadn’t thought of that. I will check that, thanks

Maybe the stereo is wired to only work with the key in the on/acc position? Have you tried turning the stereo on with the engine running ? Maybe a fuse or breaker is tripped? Good point! Our Fusion has a seperate 10 amp circuit breaker in the salon breaker panel that turns the power on and off to the head unit. It also signals the 4 channel JL 60 watt per channel stereo amp and 600 watt JL sub amp to come to life. They actually fire up after receiving a + 12 VDC signal from the Fusion head unit then power down when head unit turned off either by on/off signal from it or from turning breaker off in the salon breaker panel. Engine ignition switches do not control the head unit.

Stereo breaker is switched to the on position and fusion remote in cockpit has power, just no power on head unit, this is with the key off. The head unit powered up no problem a couple of hours before the issue of no power began, I am starting to suspect a hardware problem

colb, you are having the same problem I just recently started having, no salutation with boat model, year, location, etc. etc. If you have a multi meter check for 12 VDC at the head units + 12 VDC input wire/terminal with and with out the ignition key turned to the "ACC" or "on" position. There also might be a inline fuse somewhere in the wiring from the circuit breaker to the head unit? Start with determining if you have 12VDC at the head unit and we can take it from there!

Your welcome, so did you check for 12 VDC at the head unit B+ input? Suspect that may lead you to a problem somewhere in the B+ feed to the head unit? Also, expect a 30 Express doesn't need the engines ignition key on to the accessory position as if so, you would have to have keys on ACC all the time docked or anchored? Let us know what you found out!
