Does anyone know which model Glass Cockpit Regal installs? I would like to add sonar to my boat and I am unsure other than a transducer what is needed? Is a black box needed with the Glass Cockpit?
I am looking at: GT51M-TM P79 GSD25
Thanks for the help

Could you add more info related to your boat? Size of the plotter, etc. The best approach to find out is to identify the model of the Garmin unit installed in your boat. (Go to settings, system info, etc) or dont you have the device manual? There are models with the sonar module included so you might not need an external sonar module. Another way to find out is to look at the back of the unit to check if it has a transducer input.
Edit; looking at your avatar it seems you have a SC35? My 2016 SC35 did not came with an unit with sonar included so chances are yous doesnt have one either. (Garmin adds the suffix XSV to the units with sonar included). I replaced my original chart plotter with a 8612 XSV and installed an in hull Garmin 600 w transducer to avoid making a hole . Until 1000 ft works good.

Those are great questions. I dont have access to the boat right now to answer though. Unfortunately, I left all of the manuals on the boat and it will be about 2 weeks before I will be able to get back. Not smart. I havent had much luck finding anything online yet. But yeah, when I get access I plan on checking. Thanks for the suggestions!

To follow up for anyone else that may come searching for the same answer: my 2020 Regal 35 SC does come with 8612xsv. As mentioned above, this means I do not need a black box (GSD25) to run sonar.

Why would the 2020 35SC come with the 8612xsv and the 38XO come with the 1242xsv? The 35 sc when paired with VP engines comes with the glass cockpit system which is a joint venture between Vp and Garmin. The system uses the 76xx and 86xx Garmin products. The 38 xo as you know is outboard powered, maybe the 1242 is a better match for that system.

Welcome aboard spade! Assume you bought the vessel from Singleton at holiday? Nice boat! Where are you wet slipped at? We are at D21 at holiday, stop by this summer (a month or two more?) . Interesting, I went to boat yesterday and the ramp from shore to floating dock was actually level with the lake level. Last few years it was a 20 degree down angle to dock and of course, 20 degree up back to shore. Latest info is Lake Lanier is at 1078' AMSL, so 7 + feet over full pool (0.5' from record height)! No problem with hitting underwater objects but just all the junk now floating on the surface that has washed off the shore and pushed into lake from the many streams feeding it. . Keep that in mind when sailing! For the non floating wet docked guys the docks all float and are tied down to the lake bottom with 500# concrete blocks and 3/4" carbon steel cables holding dock in position and at correct height, this connection is at every 4 slips and controlled with a winch at each cable. . Last week while at dock two of the older steel cables snapped next to our slip, like someone shooting a shot gun off 10' from you. Marina promptly replaced them so now we will see if any more old rusted steel cables break with the lake continuing to go up (forecast for next two day 1" - 2" more rain! )
