Given the current status of the country/state and the unknown of how the next week's and months play out, it will certainly have an impact on our plans. Boating is great fun, but the safety of my family and all the others I come in contact with is and will always be more important.

Well in Maryland I did get the green light from the DNR to be able to move my boat from the marina where it is being commissioned to my normal marina. The turn over is planned for next Saturday. I also bought a boat based fishing license since you are allowed to fish for sustenance, so I plan to head out a few times either alone or with my sons who live with me and catch something we can fry up, mostly to get my boating fix. WE'll follow the social distancing at the marina and such. The tough thing is that my marina had turned the water off. They did keep the electric on but they turn the water off for some reason. Which kind of sucks since we didn't get any discount for not having the services we normally have there.
if the recreational boating restriction continues into May in Maryland, I will move my boat to my South Jersey location in May. I wasn't planning to do that until June, but if they keep the restrictions up in Maryland we are moving early. Boating with distancing is allowed in South Jersey.

I don't understand why Upstate is being grouped with the mess down state. If that continues, Northeastern NY will never recover from this.

Yeap I just got word from work about May 15th. Been at the lake, haven’t been to CT in weeks.
A friend gave me his boat for the summer, so the pressure to buy a boat is off of me.

NYC is totally different than upstate NY and should not be treated the same. The collapse of the economy can not be discounted.

I met this guy 17 years ago on a jet boat forum, we became friends and I have maintained his two jet boats for the past 12 years. One is a 20’ with a 250hp opti and he has a second one, he saw me get ready to plop money down and he persisted that I use his boat and preserve cash...after a while I listened. The boat is a sugar sand Calais and it is in impeccable condition. Since I have had it, I probably spent $3000 on upgrades and honestly I find joy in doing the upgrades.

I’m reading all of these posts and sense the frustration everyone is sharing with being confined and having life interrupted. I share these frustrations, but this is a big deal. You can’t say that’s a NYC problem and let’s open Upstate for life as usual. Anyone have friends who live in the city and travel to their second homes in Upstate, the Berkshires, CT, or elsewhere? That has been one mechanism of spreading this virus. I’m not involved in the planning that has occurred in Maryland, or NY, but think of being out on your boat, by yourself, in the Chesapeake or on a lake, and you have an emergency. That requires consumption of emergency resources, PPE, and funds that all could be used to benefit a greater segment of society in battling the spread of COVID-19. Understandably, everyone is frustrated, but let’s try to understand that this isn’t someone else’s problem.

We are all in this together, there is no other way to look at it.
