Hello Everyone,
Getting ready for the new boating season in Boston and I had two intermitten issues at the end of last season that I wanted to see if anyone has experienced. My Garmen GPS with integrated gauges shuts off when I hit a wake or a wave, it comes back on but i think i may have a loose connection, has anyone experienced this and know which wire may be the culprit? Also my starboard underwater light does not turn on, I am assuming its a connection issue but not sure where that wire runs and wanted to see if anyone has dealt with that as well and knows where I should check for the loose connection. Appreciate the help and everyone stay healthy and safe!

If it is only the Garmin, the first thing I’d do is pull the unit from the dash, if you don’t have back of dash access, and see if the power cable is sitting there not connected. My guess is it could be lightly connected and when you hit a wave it disconnects and then reconnects. They may have wire tied it a bit tight at the factory and it may have pulled out a bit after that first wave with the weight of the wires. It’s a guess but it’s a place to start. I have the same underwater light issue on my brand new 2020 33 OBX, they are fixing it when I go in for my 20 hour service on my outboards. I will find out then, but my guess is mine might be a bad light or bad connection, but since your’s worked at one time and they are LCD and relatively new lights, it’s probably some kind of connection issue fo you.
