GA opened barber shops, bowling alleys, hair salons, tattoo parlors, now a bunch of shopping malls, not doing any of that, crazy dumb to do it so soon! Hav to wish the Governor of NY was the current POTUS, this guy is honest and forthcoming on everything , I watch his daily briefings even though I am located in GA and interesting that both CNN and MSNBC just ignore his opening comments until Dr. Faccui or Birx are allowed to speak!. Something is funny here?

Also impressed with Cuomo's handling and leadership. I'm in NC and I've been pleased with our governor's response for the most part. Our NC version of Dr Facccui in a very impressive woman, Dr. Mandy K. Cohen. She is super smart and well spoken. And also happens to be a graduate of Cornell. Like Faccui, she gives you a sense of confidence in what she recommends. We're doing a phased reopening and phase 1 started yesterday.
I get that everyone is ready to "get back to normal", both for work (economy) and play, but the reality seems to be that we're going to have to get use to a new normal for quite a while. It sucks, but balancing all of our collective health with prudent measures is the right way to go. We can't just pretend like everything is ok and jump right back in (like GA seems to be doing), just because we're impatient. The price for that will be more unnecessary deaths.
My degree is in mathematics, so I tend to listen less to the political speak and look at the numbers and trend lines. The numbers still tell a pretty grim story. Unfortunately, we humans tend to ignore the storm...until it affects us directly. Until then, it's just not real to many of us.

To me the only issue I really had was limiting Boating by yourself or immediate family living with you, to me that is the ultimate in social distancing if you are by yourself. Now that is lifted in Maryland and other states, I think the social distancing measures are a requirement to ensure that we stay safe, rafting up and beaching at the sand bar it going to far, but getting out on the water and enjoying the day with your immediate family in a distanced way makes total sense and also helps us all relieve some stress. it also seems to me that Georgia brought down their restrictions a little early, but from what I’m reading, many of those shop owners aren’t opening up anyway.
Keep safe everyone.

My background is engineering but basically totally intertwined with math. Fortunately as I have been retired for 12 years and living on just social security and no debts(no mortgage, car loans, etc.) I do fine just staying home or going to the boat once a week or so just to get out of house. Stay safe and hope we all come out of this in good shape medically and financially ! PS: I have three of my 4 children (youngest is 38, oldest 50) in the medical profession who have daily contact with patients in one way or another. i worry more about them than I do for myself.

I'm sure you're very proud of them and we're lucky to have them and all the other healthcare professionals taking such great risks to care for those that need it. But as proud as you are, as a parent, I know it's tough on you. We'll just keep doing the best we can to protect ourselves and by doing that, we can safeguard our families and yours.

Thanks John, heart felt fist/elbow bumps to you and all the folks in this country! Wondering how your 2005 3560 is doing compared to our 2001 4160? We sure have had to do a lot of maintenance and repairs/replacement of almost everything over the last 7 years since buying the vessel(but worth the cost vs. buying a new boat) other than the VP 8.1 L engines, they are doing great (only 1000 hours on them)! Last week gen set started acting up (wont start) so something else for me to do in the coming weeks! At almost 72 keeps me busy!

Right after buying it in 2013, the port engine hydrolocked and broke teeth off the flywheel. So that engine had to be pulled and new manifolds and risers on both engines...about 8k. Other than that, it's been just normal maintenance stuff, oil, impellers, zincs, bottom paint etc. And speaking of generators, mine wouldn't start last time at the boat either, so like you I'll have to figure out what it's problem is. So really not bad....knock on wood.
This year I've replaced the electronics with Axiom 9 MFD and engine gateways from Yacht Devices, a NMEA 2k network, and Quantum 2 Doppler radar, AR200 GPS antenna/heading sensors. I've also bought all the parts to replace the manifolds and risers again, this time replacing myself in a few weeks hopefully.
Like you said, all well worth it when I look at the prices of new comparable sized boats....YIKES!

I tend to stay away from political conversation... but I must say be careful what you wish for! Living in NYS, run by Cuomo and being an individual that needs to work to support my family and lifestyle, NYS is not a friendly place to be! Taxes are completely out of control, it is all but impossible for small business owners to be successful here, and just because NYC has become the epicenter of this thing does not mean the whole state should suffer, or that Cuomo has a clue! This state has not submitted a budget on time for years... but now all of a sudden the feds need to bail states out for their to be a state budget??? REALLY!
Sorry... Ill move on
gofast, you must be a proud father, and of course extremely nervous. Hug their neck every chance you get and make sure to tell them all THANK YOU from all of us! I work in the hospitality industry and I am lucky enough to work for an owner that is very generous. My team and I have been coming in to work 5 days a week to feed the front line workers in our area. Hospitals, nursing homes, police and fire... Everyday we bring them something something to fill their belly's!!! Luckily in upstate where we are, all this crazy never really got to bad.
Lets just all be reasonable humans, respect one another, and be thankful for all of the wonderful things we have in our lives today!

And I’ll leave it at that.

I never said I believe everything Trump says. Politicians are all liars. You don’t live in NY, so yes, let it go.
