Our marina has closed down the BBQ grill and picnic table area at our marina for the unforeseeable future. I have always had a portable Magma grill on the boat but have never needed to mount it because we always had somewhere to grill. Now that has changed, I broke down and bought the mount for the grill.
I remember in the old forum there was a good thread on this topic but I could not find one on this one. I am looking for advice on what type of adhesive to use and what is the best type of screw/bolt to use. I plan on installing it under the swim platform ladder lid directly on the fiberglass.
As I see many, many boats with this same pedestal mount base, I'm sure I can be lead in the right direction and perhaps offered advice on things not to do.
Thank you

One of the boats in our marina mounted his BBQ base under the cover with the swim ladder. When it is time to use it he pulls out the post, mounts the BBQ. I thought it was a neat install. Other boats mount their base and BBQ permanently on the swim platform so easier access.

Use 3m 5200 adhesive and stainless bolts with washers and locknuts. Stainless should be 316 grade.

That is the mount I use under swim platform hatch on my 2006 4460, works out very well!

It's interesting they let you grill in the marina with gas, we are not allowed to do that. That was one of the benefits of moving to the Kenyon Electric grill, we can use that in the marina. I'm in Maryland so it's probably different elsewhere.

I had installed this exact setup on my 3060 and i didn't need adhesive. Just follow the instructions of the pedistal mount (4 drilled holes in the fiberglass IIRC, Use their SS hardware provided in the kit). When i drilled the holes, i first put painters tape down where the holes were drilled to prevent cracking. I can't remember if i did it here, but on a previous fiberglass drilling project, i remember i drilled in reverse (counterclockwise) to also prevent fiberglass cracking. It worked surprisingly well.

Exactly what I did, below. Used the Magma pedestal, stainless steel bolts with washers & acorn nuts.

If your going with thru holes thru the swim platform for the base (like ours) most likely the platform has a balsa wood inner core. Need to use a good quantity of silicone caulk into hole and above below the bolts/nut's. Any water getting into thru holes will eventually rot the balsa wood core! This was a subject on the old Regal forum but I have no way of searching it. Also didnt know there was a under and on top of swim platform base available for this Magma grill . We just mounted the base on the top of platform. As of 5 years, no problems with swim platform balsa wood core rotting.
