If anyone is interested I did go to NAPA parts store and bought belts 1 1/2" longer and they work with the new tensioners perfectly in the operation limits. I have a phone call into the Volvo customer service department to suggest they rethink their replacement part number. First I would call whomever you bought the belt from (did you give them the part number from VP parts web site or give them the p/n off of your old belt?). 1.5" longer belt and it indicates "new" condition on the spring loaded idler pulley markings? I would suggest that what you got isnt what u needed. |

Last observation = Two types of serpentine belts having all the mechanical and fitment properties . Either Gates or Dayco (who ever manufactures the belt for VP) has what I remember was called a "razor back" or "gator back" belt. looking at one of the pictures posted earlier Really no difference other than cost and one looks like a gator back.
