Our Commodore boat has been laid up for two years. Our macerator to pump out the toilet and the toilet’s vacuum pump are not working. We think the bellows have dried up and have hardened so there is no seal. Has anyone else had these problems as we wonder whether we should replace the bellows or install a completely different and less complicated toilet system. We would welcome your views please.

If you would include the model/size/year/engine info and where located that would really help a lot. OK, it is a Commodore , can you supply more info? Welcome to Regal Owners Forum! Dont think it would be economical to change out toilets! Without any more info you might have the Vacu Flush system? Yes, depending on how old your vessel is the bellows/duck bill valves and bowl ball seals are probably needing replacement. More info on boat please.

Hi there
Thanks for your advice. Will do as you suggest and post on other areas.
Our boat is a standard Regal 2665 Commodore sports cruiser, built in 2008. I think it may be a vacu flush system (it certainly is a vacuum) and it is a Sealand toilet. We have already uncovered the bellows and the plastic seems very hard, so might at the end of its life. We are also planning to have a look at the bowl seals. We had hoped to have a service on the heads, but we live in the South East of England and haven't found anyone who could do it!
Regards.

To be honest with the layup timeframe and the age of the boat, I would simply replace everything you can get your hands on easily. It's not super expense and it will improve your situation for years to come, along with given you peace of mind that all those pesky wear items on the dark water system have already been replaced. That is if you can financially tackle it now. Otherwise, you could be going in to fix one thing now, then another in a month and so on.
On my 4460, which was a 2006 boat, the entire dark water system, along with all the hoses was replaced before I purchased the boat. it was a requirement for me to buy it back in 2013. I pushed since the boat did hav 1000 hours on it at the time.

Good advice other than our vessel is a 2001 but had both vacu flush toilets bellows/pumps/duck bill valves/ball valve seals replaced. Reason= Aft toilet pump was running almost continuously and wore out the pump and motor (learned to turn off both DC toilets breakers when leaving the boat..
