I am a new to me owner of a 2013 Regal 2700 ES. 120 hours freshwater boat. New props(verified by Regal) 380hp DP catalyst engine. All I can reach is 5000 rpms at wide open throttle and 44 mph on GPS with one person and full tank of gas. After checking props I am baffled what the problem is? Dealer is going to scan engine but is a couple weeks out. ANY HELP?

Why does it have new props and are they the correct pitch?

I had a similar situation. Mine turned out to be a bad spark plug that was causing a cylinder to not function properly.

Change your plugs! Check your engine oil quantity.

44 MPH is pretty good! At 120 hours dont think spark plugs? May be water in fuel and fuel filter not changed recently? 5000 RPM seems good for any engine but if recommended max. rpm is 6000 could be over propped from previous owner? I wouldnt worry much about waiting for the ECM scan, the engine is running fine otherwise? What size is your engine, 380 HP, our 8.1's are rated 420 HP each, and 496 cu. in. big blocks?

He is about 1000 rpm short, if he has stock props, I would want to investigate further myself.

Yes, agree. Start with water in fuel(change fuel filter/water separators, use OEM!), old winter fuel in tank from last fall (no sta-Bil in tank), tachometer reading incorrectly (if Faria's,verify they are displaying the correct reading), fuel pump loosing pressure (plugged or becoming defective!), if all of these check out OK, pull plugs and when out do a cylinder compression pressure check. OP, do you have maintenance records on the engines? Happy 4th! I am turning 72 tomorrow at 12.03 AM

The cruise control was limiting the rpm to 5000 but now it is at 5350. Need to run injector cleaner through and then check compression and plugs if the fuel isn't the problem. I just bought the boat and am experimenting with corrections. New props were installed last fall for the previous owner who had issues with water depths. They are the correct props.
