I have been having sporadic issues with the hatch lift since last year. Now it does not operate at all. Suspect it is the motor and a replacement has been ordered. Is there any way to manually open the big engine hatch? I have tried pushing up on it from below with my legs and it does not want to move.

Get into engine room (if you can, we can on our 4160, separate hatch to get into engine room without opening room hatch) disconnect pin from electric hatch lift, then push up with someone above to help pull hatch open. Have a stick or pole or similar to hold hatch open! Hopefully you didnt just have a bad/corroded electrical connection to the actuator and not the actuator itself?

I don't know how different that is on the 4160 vs the 4460, but that hatch weighs quite a bit. You do need to pull the pin in the lift mechanism as GoFast stated to even have a chance, but you are going to need help if it weighs anything close to the 4460s hatch. Also be careful where you put whatever you use to hold it once you get it opened. Make sure it's placed where there is adequate core fiberglass to support it. I would recommend something robust to hold it up, maybe even a 2x3 or 2x4 cut to the appropriate length.

Thanks for the replies. I do have access through the day hatch, but I would like to stow the salon table and the storage area is on the underside of the big hatch.

Fully makes sense to replace the lift mechanism if you can and it's what is broken in lifting the hatch up completely. Hopefully you can get that done rather quickly. I did see a boat that had a perfectly fine working hatch lift, and it wasn't working all the sudden, when I helped them get it going again, it was simply a wire that got kicked out of the motor when someone was crawling around down there.

We have 2001 4160, so Go into engine room, pull pin to hatch, open cover manually with a lot of helpers, and determine what is wrong, corroded terminals or bad motor? If no p/n on actuator send Regal a mail with your hull number and ask for OEM part number.

The actuator I have is a Warner Electric, part number# DM12-10B5-24CE 4500. Just spoke with warnerelectricparts.com (866-335-0972) and was given a quote of $969.62 with a 3 day lead time. Anyone else had experience with repairing or replacing this actuator at a lower cost?

Found this but really pricey also? www.thomsonlinear.com/en/product/DM12-10B5-24CE Good luck, hope we dont have to replace ours, if it fails will take it out and see if can be fixed first! Check the fuse/circuit breaker and helm switch first!

Yes that is a very expensive part replacement. Are you sure your motors shot? Would be worth checking connections and wires for wear or corrosion first before spending $1k.

Agree, possibly just the electric motor could be repaired or replaced? As youcan get into engien room thru day hatch, put a voltmeter on terminals on hatch lift motor and have someone at helm push "open" switch and see if you get 12 VDC at motor and advise!
