I just returned from a 55 mile journey on one engine , Of coarse the engine with no PS
Multiple issues occurred during my little cruise
Always keeping my eyes on gauges , volts & temp was within normal . Crying as gas gauge went lower & lower ,
Docking is were my issues reared its ugly head , I prefer too run starboard , I am right handed , and PS on starboard so I favor that engine, Even docking prefer single engine docking , Previous boat was single engine . This works for me ,
Pulling up too dock , all of a sudden starboard engine revs full throttle in neutral , ??
Got too dock with port ,
Open deck lid and see salt spray was all over starboard engine ,
This is what I discovered , Raw water pump blew a seal while under way , Spraying water all over alternator up too flame arrester cover
around the electrical wiring on top . Enough water flowing since temp was fine ,
Days of going too a store too buy anything is GONE , Few days too ship a raw water pump
Stayed over night and following day returned on one engine . NO Power Steering , TUFF
MUST Say it was very nice , going slow , not looking too push 6 cylinder on a 2860 Commodore , , 5.8 knots took 9 hours
Following day received raw pump , installed and that's corrected
HIGH RPMS , fuel injected , I am thinking salt water kicking up all over might have damaged computer or sensor ?
Changed air flow sensor , NAPA had one for the vortec , Lot better but still too fast
Putting palm of my hand over throttle opening , slows too normal , SO THERE IS A VACUMN ISSIE or Air senor from Napa not correct
or computer on riser got wet , ?? I was told the sensor takes a while and a 1/2 hour trip should adjust automatically
I am wondering
On my regal I have twin 4.3 GXI Volvo's
Power steering operates both motors from Starboard engine
On Port engine there is a Power Steering Pump with fluid but goes no were , Must be looped
Is there a way too run the PS line from port engine too connect too a TEE of sorts so both engines can operate on same
actuator ??
Viewing anything on this boat is a challenge and cant see were PS hose connects too ,
Thanks as usual
