You won’t see much if any improvement going from a 5.7 to a 6.2. Going to an 8.2l would yield much better results.

Volvo Penta is using the Gen V engines.

Saw Merc is manufacturing their own small/big block V-8's? No longer procuring long block's from GM? A 8.2 or even a 8.1 would be very big improvement as long as the outdrive is capable of the additional HP (torque)?

I am no expert but I would imagine it would be a lot more than a block swap, probably new controls (digital throttles), NMEA 2000, a host of other technology updates surrounding the engine and/or outdrive swap. Not that it's impossible, just very costly to implement.

You can swap it for a Repower Merc 383 Stroker. Probably pick up around 50HP or so depending on the rated HP of your current engine. Same footprint.

Sell the 2665 and purchase a 2800+ with the VP or MERC 8.1's. Think yu can get a 28'+ with higher output engine for about the same cost of replacing your current 5.7! Find one a year or two older , always on fresh water, and maybe less engine hours that you have on yours now? And, usual question, where are you located/docked, fresh or salt water, what year is your vessel, how many hours on engine, etc??
