Hi All.
I have a 2006 3860 and my vacuum pump runs every 10 minutes or so.
I suspect I need to change the duckbill valves as they have never been changed.
I believe the vacuum pump is on the port side on the OTHER side of the engine and nearly impossible to get to to work on it.
I would think they are the 2" Duckbills as opposed to the 1-1/2".
Has anyone else had any experience with change them out on a 3860?
How about on any system on the Regals?
Thanks !

We have had both ours duck bill valves changed twice, once by son second time by experienced mechanic. too hard to get to and last time as pump kept running every 10 minutes or so that burned out vacuum pump motor on aft unit because left DC breaker on when not at vessel. Since then, we turn off both pumps DC breakers whenever leaving boat at dock.

timp4411, can't help you with the duckbill valve size, but I'm guessing you already checked all the other things that could be causing this right? Clean seal at the head, tight hose clamps at the heads etc. I had a similar issue with my 4460 and it ended up being simply a loose hose clamp on the back of the vacuflush head itself.

Thanks for the tip.
I checked the seal(s) at the toilets themselves, no leakdowns. But will double check all of the clamps

When pump is functioning do you see a small amount of water in the bowl or nothing hours later? If nothing, probably the bowl ball valve seals leaking and need cleaning or beter yet replacing. Replacing ball valve seals a big job, gt a qualified mechanic to do it as well as getting pump/duck bill valves checked.

Duck bills is the most common problem causing vacu-pump to cycle.
It can also be the pressure switch.
The Ball seal isn't really that bad of a job... you do have to remove the throne to do it, but better than having to clean the holding tank sensor..... P.U.

Agree, if water maintained in bowl has to be duck bills or vacuum leak between toilet and pump/tank or pump diaphragm leaking..Let us know wht you find out!
