2660 Commodore... I'm getting a fuel smell coming through my a/c. I don't smell any fumes inside the boat OR in the engine compartment. However, when I open the cabinet door that the a/c is located in, (in the aft cabin) I can smell fuel. Anyone else ever have this issue?

No, but get it checked out before doing anything else on boat! Fuel tanks should have thru hull vents to atmosphere to release gasoline vapors created when fuel gets warm, dont mess around with this trying to figure this out yourself!

After returning to the dock, I had a strong order of fuel in the cabin, but not in the engine room. Turned out that one of the fuel filters was loose and causing the issue. Now why it didn't smell in the engine room, I have no idea. But tightened the filter and no more annoying (and dangerous) gas smell.

As you indicated it was leaking, most likely into the engine room bilge? Dangerous situation, glad you found it!!

Put on by local mechanic (not used anymore for obvious reasons). The strange thing is that I never saw or smelled any gas in the engine compartment. It only smelled of gas in the cabin after coming back in from a run. With gas engines, I've always been super paranoid about leaks and I always climb down into the engine compartment and look and smell for leaks and such each and every time we head out. Must have been such a small amount that it just evaporated and didn't leave any visible liquid. That incident, and just general paranoia, is why I finally installed the gas fume detectors this year.

Yes, dont use that mechanic anymore! Also, gasoline vapor is much more combustible than liquid gas. Changing out a fuel filter is about a 5 minute job and a lot less costly if you are a little bit handy?
