I’ve owned a 35SC and now a 46SC. I’ve had the same issue with both boats. At least once a season I snap the nylon “T” bracket that Is part of tte assembly attaching the roof to the retraction belt. If the roof is partially open, to enjoy the breeze that setting creates, and I hit a moderate wave or wake and not get the roof shut prior, the Heavy roof snaps the bracket.
Other than the obvious, being more diligent with closing the roof prior to the ward event, does anyone have a more robust solution? What if I had an aluminum bracket constructed? The bracket isn’t an inexpensive part from Regal and then it’s an hour of work, ideally needing 2 people, to perform the replacement.
thoughts.

Does it have to stay nylon? Is there a reason for that material other than it was cheap to manufacture? You might take one (in good shape) and have someone 3d Print, or cast a replacement out of a stronger material. Can't comment more than that since I don't know what the part looks like or how it's used.

I have a 16 SC35 and ive never broken any bracket even in 3 ft chop. (I boat in South Florida..). Ive never seen a nylon T bracket...may be the system was changed in the later models? Mine has a metal piece that attaches the belt to the roof. May be you could retrofit the newer system?

Maybe I’m not describing the part correctly. I used to own a 2015 35SC so it would have had the same roof construction as your 2016 and my current 2018 46SC. I’ve pulled a past invoice, Regal calls the part a Delron Slider. I see it’s made from Teflon so maybe the material is significant. The part is only $16.67. The problem is labor time. Frustrating, since it seems to be a weak link and chronic issue.
3 foot chop. It would never make it through that. Was your roof closed in the chop? Closed, it’s no problem. Maybe even fully open it might not be a problem. I’m not sure about fully open as I never run with the roof full open. I run with it either fully closed or open 3-4 inches depending on weather & water conditions. Partially open, crossing a wake is enough to snap the part.

I usually run with the roof 1/3 or 2/3 opened. Do you have a pic of the piece?

No picture right now. I still need to get a replacement for the latest breakage and will take a picture. Thanks for your input, it’ll be a while and I’ll be back with a picture.

Picture worth a 1000 words? Pic of broken bracket would help a lot? We dont have your sunroof type "SC" model so cant add anything else to wht other posters have advised. Not sure making a 3D printed replacement (stronger?) is better than the $16 OEM part? Same problem with replacing it in either case?

Sounds to me that Regal realized that their original part has a design issue. I’m wondering if the two parts look similar but are just of different material. Pictures would help.
