'07 4460 ... the U-Line ice maker/fridge combo has never worked properly since I purchased the boat. I'm going to remove it and take it into a refrigeration expert for evaluation. I have pulled off the frame/door enclosure of the area outside of the fridge itself. I see the normal 110v plug and the water line. when I figure out how to unscrew the fridge from the wood flooring, does anyone know how I plug off the water line? at home, I know I have a water valve at the wall, but not sure what to expect when I pull out this ULine unit. I don't want to have to keep my fresh water circuit off for the entire time the fridge is out (I still want to use the boat/heads/faucets/etc).
thanks much!

If you look in the cabinet to the left, above the air conditioner for the cockpit is the valve for the U-line. Let me know if you have any luck as ours doesn’t work either and I was debating just replacing

I'd simply turn off your fresh water pump and make sure your dock water is off, and then cut the line, pull the fridge and cap the line with whatever plumbing thing you need to. I'm sure you could trace the line back to the water manifold, but that sounds like a lot of work I'd simply cap it with whatever plumbing parts you need to.
Note I posted in your other thread on replacing the ice maker with a fridge of the appropriate size. I did that. AC/DC fridge plugged into that outlet and then DC wires ran to the main fuse panels below the engine room hatch with a switch mounted inside the cabinet next to the fridge opening to turn the fridge off of DC when winterizing.

fwiw, my ice maker would stop producing ice intermittently. Now, when I leave for the week, I let it defrost (really only takes an hour or two during the summer) and then turn it back on when I return. I have had success with doing this so far. The only negative is that I have to make a few extra drinks so I don't waste ice.

To remove my unit I had to buy a 90 degree adaptor from Home Depot for my drill to get the 4 screws drilled through the bottom of the Uline into the wood decking below it

We have a combo 120 VAC/12 VDC fridge/freezer in galley. Still working fine (had to replace a AC/DC module a few years ago) . Separate Ice maker is on bridge deck and has a shut off water valve on left side of ice maker (under sink cabinet). Glad combo fridge/freezer still working as from old forum impossible to remove this unit (unless cutting it in half) thru the cabin door to replace!! I doing this cant get new unit into cabin without fully pulling out salon door, real big and expensive job! PS: Replacing the AC/DC module unit we just pulled out unit, no screws holding it to floor!

GoFast, I had no idea that was the problem with the unit in the galley. Our was starting to act up and if I would have kept the 4460 for another year, I was planning to replace that unit and also needed to do something with the screen on the door. Didn't know you needed to pull that door to get the fridge out and the new one in. wow. Glad I don't have to deal with that now.

We just had ours serviced, the tech found that the fan was turning, but not at speed and it was drawing 0.8 amps vs 0.26 nameplate. He replaced the fan motor and now the condenser is working properly.

We replaced the Nova Kool freezer/refrigerator in our 4460. Other than taking the doors off the unit to get it though the cockpit door, it was a pretty simple swap out. We replaced with the same unit other than doors are black instead of the wooden look.

Hweker63. I no longer have the 4460 but I'm very interested in understanding what was involved in pulling the door and screen combo? Did you have to pull the entire console back to allow the door to be removed or was it easier than that? I really had to get my screen replace, but when I looked at how that Plexiglas door and screen door were mounted it surely looked like the entire console had to be loosened up and at least tilted back to allow access to get the doors out. I think others who still own 4460s may have a similar question. In my case the screen on the screen door was starting to get tattered and really needed to be replaced.

They didn’t have to remove the cockpit door. Seemed as long as they took the doors off the Bova Kool refrigerator it got passed
We also added the Splendid ventless washer dryer combo. For this one they had to tilt the dash away to get past but no damage

Good to know the is doable without much fanfare. When I looked it concerned me that tilting it back it would eventually hit the windshield so to completely remove it perhaps the windshield would have to be removed on the starboard side. Good to know that isn't required.

I replaced the U-Line cockpit ice maker/cooler combo on my 06 4460 last summer. The original U-line ice maker was worn out, but cooler worked fine. The new unit was identical, so a fairly easy replacement. Remove the front fiberglass door, remove bottom grill cover, remove two short anchoring screws, and pull the unit out. Our boat had a valve from the sink to the ice maker/fridge, so easy to disconnect water and power. It is very cumbersome to lift the unit out.
The problems began with the brand new U-line which was noisier, did not cool as well as the old unit, and now the ice machine has stopped working. Very disappointing and expensive replacement so far. Comparing the quality of the build after removing the rear panels from both new and old units shows the original U-Line a much better and tidier build than the new unit. The 'fix' is now a winter boathouse project.

OK, glad we have a combo fridge/freezer in cockpit and seperate ice maker on bridge deck. Both still doing fine after 20 years. Have to agree old well built stuf lasts longer than new replacements! What did you do about the newly installed fridge/ice maker not working? Under warranty?
