Question: How do I winterize my boat that is equipped with the Volvo Penta V6 200 G5 SX Marine Engine?
I’ve heard that I can just utilize Volvo’s Easy Drain System but do I need to do anything else? The boat will be dry stacked.
I’m a first time boat owner and this is the first off-season I’ve experienced. Thank you.

Never had a Volvo, and no idea what a Easy Drain System is, but, all you'll need to do is drain the entire engine (my Merc has 5 drain plugs); replace plugs, Pull, 1 at a time, the hoses going to the thermostat housing, and, with a large funnel, fill each with appropriate antifreeze. You are done!
(Don't forget to store with outlive down if dry stack will allow)

There is a lot involved in winterizing a boat. The easy drain system drains the raw water passages, but you have other things you need to winterize (fresh water pumps, toilet, change oils, fuel filters, treat the fuel with stabilizer, lower unit oil..etc). I can’t tell where you are located, so I don’t know how long your winter is or how cold it gets.
For a first time boat owner, I recommend you either let the dealer do it and you watch and learn or get someone from your circle of friends who has experience to do it. Watch and learn. Every boat I’ve owned had a little quirk about winterizing.

I have commented to admin multiple times to require this type of info before letting new member log in to forum (continue to let new folks read forum posts but join only after indicating important info before becoming new members) , as of this post, no success! So, trying to be nice, three posts to get required info to actually give OP good advice!

I had the Gen5 engine, very easy to do. Pull the drain and leave it open and for a little bit of added safety, I always pulled the water pump cover and left it open. I did the water pump the first two years but than I come to find out that it was not needed. Although Volvo will not come out and tell you that's all you need BUT the easy drain is tied into everything that has raw water.
There is a tag that comes with the boat, attach the tag to the easy drain system to remind you in the spring, to push the pin back in and lock it into place.

Sorry to be vague in my initial post requesting your advice regarding winterization. The boat will be dry stacked at the marina in the Atlanta metropolitan area. I do not expect I’ll be using the boat from mid-October through February or early March.
The boat is a 2020 Regal 2000 ES with a Volvo V6 200 G5 SX engine.
Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.
PS - after a few mobile issues upon delivery, the boat has been awesome. I’ve put on approximately 115 hours to date.

Thanks, I am on Lake Lanier, wet docked under roof all year round. What lake are you on? As you are dry docked you will need to do a full winterzation and if any other fresh water systems also drain and use proplene glycol to keep from freezing (toilets, potable water system, ect) . As it seems you have a new vessel would suggest you get local VP marine dealer to do the first winterization to keep factory warranty in effect, then next year do it your self when you know what is being done? Nice you have put on 110 hours since new! At least you are using your boat! With 110 hours you should have engine oil and oil and fuel filter changed, lower unit drained an refilled, according to VP service requirements to maintain warranty! looks like we will get 5-8 inches rain thur/fri? Well, better than a direct hit by hurricane!
