One of the issues many 26 XO owners and/or prospective owners have raised is the relatively small fuel tank. It holds 72 gallons. I note that the fuel tank on the 28 also holds 72 gallons. With the extra space in the 26 XO in what used to be the engine room, has anyone added a permanently mounted second fuel tank?
I'm exploring this option. One marine outfit advised they would do the job using a bladder tank. Another advised they could safely mount about a 20 to 25 gallon tank. I'm not a fan of the bladder tanks. An additional 40 to 50 miles cruising range would serve me well, and I suspect I am not alone. But then other considerations come into play like safety, added weight and its impact on ride and performance, weight distribution, etc.
Has anyone added a second fuel tank to their 26 XO?

I had a commodor 29', I added two 20 gallon tanks, they were stainless.
I did the work myself, by the time you add the plumbing to fuel them as part of the system and drain and vent them, I didnt think it was worth it.
I studied the effects of a fuel bladder at the time and I wasnt impressed, fuel migration with a bladder was my concern.
For budgeting purposes, It was just under $600 dollars but this was in 1999 and I did the work myself.
