If you pop off the rubber cover on the side of the lever, you'll find a nut that can be tightened. "Throttle hammer" ? Must be a local thing, but I like it! Gives new meaning to "Hammer down".

We have Teleflex throttles/gear shifters. To change friction on any of the 2 throttle levers a plate pops off and under is screws that you can tighten/loosen to change friction. On the throttles only there are also two other screws, one for each lever, , above and below the middle screw that sets the limits of travel for idle/WOT. Not sure what you have?

I am assuming you are asking for a picture from ric1970 but I thought I would post this as it may help. This is a Seastar/Teleflex CH4400 series 2 lever top mount control. Happy boating (at least once Spring gets here for us in the cold weather areas).

That is what we have. Friction adjustment screw in the middle of base plate indicated as "B" . I think lever/handle is what the OP wanted to type)?

Ah Ha, not what I thought, but I still stand by the tightening instructions--behind that 'pivot area'

Mine are the Morse controls, but yes, mine also has the switches on the handle. I've had to replace one switch, but spraying contact cleaner in the other one fixed it.
