We have a 2007 Regal 4460 that we purchased used. Liked the boat, not a fan of the color. We’re having the hull repainted black to match the new canvas. it’s been sanded, scratches filled and taped off. Any advice on what to watch out for? ?

Do you have a boathouse or enclosed slip??

Black, where it currently is tan. Then white below that’s. Then normal bottom paint below water line. Boat will be in a covered slip,so,at least sun won’t beat on it all day

I really hope you're not sorry a year from now! Black shows everything.

My boat isn't in a covered slip and I have to wax three times a season! The back of the boat really takes a beating that's why I had the canvas cover made.....Just sayin...Rick

Everything worthwhile seems to be a PITA. Your hull looks amazing; nice job!

Looks really good. I’ll send a picture when ours is repainted.
Waxing 3 times a year sounds like a reasonable work load. Sure beats the office.

I know Formula uses DuPont Imron to paint their hulls and they get great results. The nice thing about Imron is it doesn’t fade like gel coat, and thus is easier to maintain.

We buff/wax our "Ivory" color hull about once a year.

I hear the wrapping option isn't a bad way to go either. I really haven't compared pricing, but I know they are wrapping 40 plus foot center consoles all the time and from what I hear they look great and hold up well. That is until you bump into something sharp. But I guess that would dig into the fiberglass gelcoat/paint as well.

Dont know that you will ever regret your decision... A lot work work to keep it up? Yup! But hard to beat a shiny BLACK hull!!!

You have a Beautiful boat. We’re moving it from Charleston salt water to Lake Gunterville and it’ll be under roof so I am thinking it’ll stay cleaner and less salt stains. Plus the marina has fingers on both sides of the boat so wash/wax will be a lot easier. I am thinking once black, then it truly is a black hole you throw money into... lol

Hawker, I have a 2006 4460 that was black where yours is tan. Had it painted last season with Imron ( black) and it came out great. You won’t have to wax as much as the paint is much easier to maintain than colored gel coat.

Curious what the cost is to repaint the current color section? Looking at a 4160 out west that is white and not really crazy about it.
