Besides the obvious, is there any reason why I couldn't wait a year to replace my trim gauge sender? I just had the lower unit and bellows all PM'ed last year and will not be due again until next year. Thinking I can save a little bit of labor by waiting, however do not want to have any performance issues or create other issues as a result.
Thoughts?

Absolutely no need to hurry. Most can tell where their trim is just by sound and feel.

I believe as well that you can work it out by sound of the drives up and down for a year. I had a trim gauge go back on my 2005 Monterey 322 and I ended up simply trimming them all the way down before starting so I could hear the drives more clearly. Once the whine drops in frequency you know they are down. Then I'd simply trim them together after that using the gauge that was working on the other drive and it was fine for actually two years before I replaced the gauge after the second one went bad.

Sounds right! On my previous 1992 24' Python Cuddy with a 502 Merc Bravo I had trim tabs. No gauges but with that boat you could easily tell when to trim in or out Fun was trimming tabs fully up and go to WOT, put the bow up about 30 degree's in the air, then tabs down to be safe Yes, the old days for me!
