One of my tachometers was replaced years ago (by a prior owner) so it had always shown about 100 hours less than the other. This always bothered me, so I designed and built this programmable tool to add hours to my tachometer. I can program it for a specific RPM and to add from 0.1 seconds to 9,999 hours. This is needed because simply applying power to a tachometer won't allow it to add engine hours. The tachometer must think that the engine is actually running (RPM signal) to have the engine hours increase. Being programable means I can just set it and forget it and let it add hours. Unfortunately the hours have to be added in real time, so if I need to add 102 hours, then this will need to be connected for 102 hours (4.25 days), but being programmable, I can add an exact amount of time easily. I can confirm the engine hours by reading the engine ECM and then be sure the tachometer's run time hour display is accurate.

Digital hour meter only records hours when engines running, not just ign switch on like ours. We now have a little over 1000 hours on vessel and engines running better than hours meters:) Also from old Regal Owners forum i recognize you again

Why not just mentally add 100 hours to port hour meter reading? OK, it would bug me too
