Happy to be back on the new board! Looking to replace my carpet as it's about time. Considering the seagrass matt. The admiral is concerned its not as comfy as regular carpet.

It's definitely not as soft on the feet, but it is rubber backed so provides some cushioning.
I like it more than I thought I would. Definitely dries faster.

Honestly I would never get carpet again. We like the sea grass so much better because it dries fast and does not get smelly like wet carpet does.

I would never go back to carpet either. The seagrass is easier to take care of and is plenty soft.

Does the sea grass 'pucker' over time? That's what my original carpet looks like in a few areas.

On a few of the panels some of the rubber backing started coming off in parts but nothing to drastic. I think there is even a product that can be used to re-spray the backing.

seagrass is a synthetic blend of fibers, it should not change in dimension or shrink...if that's your question.

I second seagrass mat; it stands stains better as well. (After 4 years in my sc35 it looks almost as new).

I still prefer our original OEM snap in carpet (We only have two pieces, one around the engine room cover and forward and the second forward to the cabin door) . If it gets wet, we just un snap it, lay it in the sun for a few hours or overnight on the doc (covered dock)and snap it back in:). Also, if it gets dirty, just pull it out, lay on dock, wash it with a little dish soap or liquid carpet cleaner, rinse it off, leave it out to dry and snap back in. Probably with our covered dock and only one deck (two pieces of carpet) to cover it is easier for us to use/clean/dry out than a vessel not under dry dock?

As in my previous post, my carpet has not been a problem . As I never had seagrass I cant really comment on it but it sounds like a good alternative if you dont like or have problems with OEM carpet.

Seagrass is nice but not the cheap stuff as the backing tends to come apart. I find certain types of seagrass to be slippery.

Pucker is like you close your lips, force air into your mouth, and then you lips "pucker" up, like filling a balloon

Would go with seagrass over carpet any day. Our seagrass mat had better cushion and backing than the OEM carpet. It cleans well and doesn't stain. I would go with this over any of the stick on foam products or the fake teak products. Have been very happy with ours for the last 5 years. Looks new
