Sorry if I’m in the wrong members bar. But I’m wearing a tie . So that gets by the stuffier clubs Can you please help me . I’ve had a Tegal 2565 for 6-7 years. 2 years ago she started behaving badly. Horridly badly! Basically she wouldn’t allow me go above 14 mph , and the corresponding rev count for a light load. She would just start to plane then just site there on the wave , or slightly behind it. It seemed to me that the turbo charger wasn’t clicking in Eventually I had someone look at it and he suggested I needed a new turbo . So got one No difference ..still stuck at 14 mph… Someone else then looked at it . Now I was told it was a computer problem. So after much fiddling around with a laptop and communicating with the manufacturers I was told the prob was now cleverly deleted. It all worked fine for just 6 hours of boating. Then she reverted to form , just sitting back on the wave , refusing to lift off…just as it had before. Trouble was that I had now paid out quite substantially, and I’m back where I started .

Turbocharger? Laptop? Sounds to me like you have a diesel in another country. You apparently were on the right track, but got the wrong computer person &/or diesel mechanic. That's where you ought to head.

I live in Ireland. My engine is a Volvo D3 190 HP Is there any way to bypass all the computer functions. Seems to me that while they may make for more efficiency and economy they are just a headache in a boat.. besides I’m totally computer illeterate , and the kind of mechanics we have locally tend to shy away from my kind of problem.

I have to admit to you that I am totally illiterate regarding diesel engines! Apparently, though, I can read between the lines regarding the diesel and being in a foriegn country. I'm hesitant to say you can bypass the computer--very likely not! In my ignorant, but caring opinion---You'll really need to find a Volvo diesel marine mechanic.

Sounds like a problem with the variable vain turbo but I could be way off, VP has had a lot of issues with that. Best thing you can do is check with a VP certified diesel mechanic also check for recalls

Could also be a governor problem, and no way to by pass the electronics
