Since we're talking about the holding tank filters, here is the one I use on my 2005 3560 listed for others that may search later down the road.... Vokler Holding Talk Filter $50 buck. As much as I love most DIY projects, this is one I'm just fine with spending the $$.

I've been seeing these Vokler's advertised a lot lately. I'm sure they will get a lot of business!
On my boat, my filter is horizontal. so I can't easily do the vertical trick without doing a bit of work rerunning hoses and clamps inside of the cramped area where my filter is mounted behind my hot water tank.
I'd still like to know if the original person solved his issue yet?

Price is good other than description indicated 1.5" hose size? Picture shows a threaded NPT male fitting on one end? Our filter has a 3/4" barbed fitting to push a 3/4" ID hose hose over? 3/4" hose should be plenty to allow venting during toilet usage and pump out?

Yeah, this one is for the 1.5 in version (which my 3560 has). Vokler has other sizes like this 5/8" (garden hose type fitting) . May be other sizes available too.

John, your 3560 has to fly with those engines? What speed can you obtain at WOT? We have the same engines other than ours are the -"A" version. After getting our props reconditioned we are seeing about 29/30 MPH using GPS data.Trim tabs fully up, two people on the boat, calm sea's, etc. Also, how many hours on your engines and what mechanical/electrical problems have you had on them?
PS: Wonder why a black water tank vent to atmosphere would need a 1.5" pipe? You can pump out the tank with that size fitting??

It will go pretty good. We usually cruise around at 3500rpm at about 28-30 depending on water/wind. At WOT, @4800 rpm, just a touch over 42ish mph (gps), depending on the day. This year I'll be able to see what the fuel rates are (new electronics, engine gateways and nema 2k network)....cause those things can suck some gas! ...and I'd like to see where the sweet spot is. I suspect 100 rpm here or there will really impact the fuel burn rate. Ive got about 320 hrs on the engines. As for issues, within the first few months, the port engine hydrolocked. It turned out that the manifolds were a little older than the previous owner claimed. Had both engines done, manifolds and risers (2013) and they've been good since. Actually I'm getting ready to do them again in a few weeks, myself this time, to save a ton of $$ (already bought all the parts). Otherwise, just change the oil, filters, impellers, plugs, belts, pencil zincs and such. Otherwise pretty good...knock on wood! Except the water pumps, those VP pumps last about 3-4 years before they start leaking. Luckily you can rebuild them for like $45 bucks each.

Just for comparison, my 2005 3560 with 8.1 GiE engines and DP-SM I/Os, I can hit 45 MPH (gps).
But we are taking this pump out issue thread way off topic now! LOL

Ya, agree. Guess one of us could start a new /post? PS: Our 4160 gross weight is 23,550 lbs. What are your 3560's? OK, stopping this non topic stuff

Looks good to me, for $49 and you dont have to go thru all the trouble to change out the carbon pellets (for $6) like I do. Guess if you own a $200k+ vessel $49 wont kill your budget

TC3OBX, I have a 2002 4260 and am having the same problem you describe. Can't fully pump out the waste tank, I'm thinking the vent is blocked. I looked where you suggested to the right of the rear AC unit. Nothing. I found the tank under the aft bunk, but there is no way to access it beyond seeing a small corner of it. ANY idea where to trace or access the the vent tube? I'm not even sure what sort of line hose/line I'm looking for.

I think my tank was under the floor of the main cabin, aft of the water tank. I think the water tank was forward closer to the front cabin. I wouldn't think the 4260 would have that much of a different design. Do you know where your tanks vent is though? Mine was in the cluster of overboard drains and air con cooling water exist amidships on the starboard side. I think the vent was the bigger of these ports. Clearly, the charcoal cartridge needs to be between the tank and the overboard vent and positioned above the tank. Is you vent in the same place as mine? I'd start if you can find the vent and then trace back to the tank, I think trying to go from the tank is probably a nightmare.
An option might be to call Regal. They are still closed, but when this thing opens they are normally pretty helpful in answering questions if they can as long as you have the model and year of your boat.

Tc33, thanks so much for the reply. I tried to call Regal and their voicemail says to call them back when they reopen in a few weeks. My Waste tank access panel is in the rear center, and you can access it under the afterbirth.
There is like a “sub panel“ that you can open that exposes a portion of the waste tank. There are no fittings that are loose or obvious vent hoses coming out so maybe I just can’t see it. I will trace it to the side of the boat where it comes out and try to go backwards from there.
Thanks for your reply, it was helpful

If you can locate the thru hull black water tank vent try pushing city water hose (from dock) back thru it down to the tank and see if it does or doesn't flow back to tank, if the charcoal filter is plugged you probably wont get much water thru? If that is the case you need to find filter canister and change it..

On my 4460 the filter was to the right of the rear air conditioner unit in the access hatch at the head of the aft cabin berth. you need to move the mattresses aside to get to it and it's a bit of an effort to squeeze in there to remove it, also wear a mask if you can, it's a stinky job! But new filter got the pump out working again. You may want to measure your inlet and outlets on your existing setup to make sure you order the right filter. However, we have the same boat only a year apart, I'm pretty sure you's will be the same size as what I ordered in the link/ Amazon AirForce Holding Tank filter. THANK YOU! I had not located the filter yet and thought it was going to require removing the salon fridge but it's where you said! Now i can get a replacement. 😁

If that is the case you need to find filter canister and change it.. If anyone attempts this method, if it wasn't plugged before, you now will be forced to replace the charcoal filter, as it will no longer be effective while it's wet. You may also prevent the vent from working at all, depending on how wet it remains.
