Hi - we have broken off closure dogs on 2 of our port holes. Looks like water got in at some point and the entire screws corroded and snapped off. Now with only one of 3 closure dogs working, the window won’t seal. Figure we will need to drill out the broken screws and replace but wondering if need to replace the entire port hole if there was water intrusion. Has anyone else had this problem 2006 3560
Thanks!

I would probably go ahead and replace the port hole or at least pull it out, just to be safe to make sure you're moisture free. The other option would be to use a moisture meter and if dry, seal it up with silicone after removing and put it back in using new hardware if you can.

I'm sure if you call Bomar (Pompanette) they can help you. I found them very helpful when I had some questions.
I have the same boat, but don't have any issues with my hardware (my boat has been in fresh water it's whole life).
My boat is still under shrink wrap, so I can't take a look, and I don't remember if the dogs are easy to remove. I do remember that parts of the mounting is very difficult to remove, it must be almost glued on, certainly with sealant. At one point I was going to try to remove one, but then decided against it after it seemed almost permanently mounted and I didn't want to cause a bigger problem.
My problem was that a non-removable screen needed to be replaced. I decided to go about it differently than trying to remove the entire portlight.

I had the same success with Pompanette when I needed to get replacement screens for my 4460s portholes. They were very supportive. I'd have to dig into my notes to figure out the number, but let me know if you have trouble finding it, I'm sure I can dig up where I called.

Rich, I've got at least two portholes with torn screens. I'm not sure what genius designed it so that the screen is glued under the rubber gasket....but that sucks! I've thought about ripping out the rubber gasket and the putting back in something that is removable, but that project has never made it to the top of the list. Curious what you did to solve the problem?

I've got a 2006 3860 with those screen that are glued under the gasket.
On Newer models you can just pop the screens out and pop new ones in.
All you can do is buy the replacements from Pompannete and literally scrape out the old gasket and screen and re-glue a new screen and gasket in place.
It's CRAZY that they did it that way, but at least they fixed it newer models.

Curious what you did to solve the problem? Yes, I agree, it's crazy and I'm not sure why they designed it this way. I carefully removed the rubber gasket, then used some clear marine grade silicone (RTV) and replaced the screen and gasket. The hardest part was stretching the screen so there was no wrinkles and holding it in place with some tape. Then I applied the gasket, closed the portlight and then left it dogged closed for about a week before opening it again to trim the excess screen. It seems to work well and has been holding up for a couple of years now.

I wish Pompannete would sell some sort of retro kit, so once we removed the torn screen, we could just pop in a replacement without having to re-glue it into place.

I just redid 5 port hole screens on my 2005 4260. With you thumb from the inside of the cabin you can loosen up the rubber gasket all around. Then slide a slot screwdriver under the center and work the screwdriver out the other side. Once you have it started you can work your way all around the gasket and remove. I re-calked and rescreened and reused the same gaskets on all 5.
