The Mason street lift bridge is not operating and it is in the down position. We have a ship stranded immediately south, attempting to get to Lake MI. USCG made an announcement informing mariners. These are low clearance bridges that impact mostly recreational boaters. Just a fun fact coming from the Midwest!

Unfortunate as I assume u want to get out into the big water after being on the dry over winter, so assume you cant get under the bridge?? Nice that your vessel is two years older than ours and still doing well? What have you done to keep it in good shape? So were you dry docked over winter and where are you docked in the wet? Go PACK!

Hey gofast, the Brenda Lou hasn't seen the water since the fall of 2018. Hit a submerged object taking out some lower unit gears and fought the insurance company until the middle of the summer of '19. Then it became a service technician shortage issue and took until late fall to eventually get replaced. Next week she'll get a new Bimini and Isinglass. She's polished/waxed and ready for the de-winterizing. I do all the maintenance and winterizing - I'm pretty meticulous. It's stored on an indoor rack or previously in heated storage on the trailer. This summer we will be slipping up in Sturgeon Bay, WI at a small marina "Stone Harbor." www.stoneharbor-resort.com/marina/ We do have a slip with our condo in Green Bay on the Fox River, but no power or water. GO PACK GO!

Ya, interesting you have to pay your marine insurance exactly on time or they cancel you within 30 days, then if you have a claim it takes them a year to belly up to the bar and take care of the claim!! Curious, what is your deductible (we have a $5000) and what was the cost of repair? Our annual insurance rate is approx $1000 for our vessel and valued at about $100k for insurance purposes. Not replacement value but just declared value on policy for total loss.

The deductible was $100 and the replacement w/props rebuild ended up just north of $7,000. Our annual premium rate is $293 and the vessel is valued at $15,500 plus $4,550 for the trailer and gear. This is my only claim ever. I'll likely move to a higher deductible when we upgrade our vessel. The lost summer of boating allowed us to get our golf game back in shape.

Agree, $100 deductible is expensive, I would go for 5-10% of market value. We have never had a claim but our lake is pretty deep and knowing all the bad spots keeps us away from them. A lot of fellow boaters here have got stuck on sand bars or hit rocks when lake was low (about 4 years ago). With all our rain (about 14" above normal YTD) lake is at full pool. Still best you really know where your boating, from charts or GPS maps.
