I'm sure there were a lot of threads on the other forum on this topic, but what's the easiest way to replace a Faria RPM gauge that isn't working?
Do I have to send it in to Faria?
Also - has anyone installed one of the GPS MPH gauges?
This is for a 2001 2960.

IIRC I read another post about Faria rebuilding them. I presume you have twins so you wouldn't want 1 new RPM gauge and 1 old (the old will be weathered a bit).

Either send them in to rebuilt and you will get them back as good as new. Second option is looking on eBay, I did install the GPS based unit on my previous boat which was nice, you can get rid of the pitot water line all together. Your last option is a nmea gauge and feed it a GPS signal.

Have you tried the 'Faria rap'? Smack the top of the dash quite hard, and it'll settle on the correct rpms

I saw someone do that and he had a brittle dash, fist went right thru! When I saw your post I remembered that.

I've heard about the "rap/tap" method, but when the engine is off, the needle is stuck on "10" so i'm assuming a smack won't help.

Both of our great Faria Tach's stick, the Faria tap is still working but no fists, just a "TAP". Verified the incorrect reading by using a OBDM reader some time ago. From experience when both engines running at approximately the same RPM's you can "hear" the drone when engines are at different RPM's. Aviator1 may know this from piloting a twin engine aircraft? Most importantly is that we know neither engine is over revving regardless of the Tachometer readings (unless damaged prop, slipping ZF gear clutch, etc) as ECM has a rev limiter which hopefully will avoid over rev's?

Probably best to send back to Faria for re man so all the gauges faces still match the rest ? Good suggestion about a GPS based speed indicator and getting rid of the typically plugged up pitot dip tube arms! We just ignore our helm MPH gauge and use our smart phone or Garmin GPS speed readings.
