The old forum is on private servers, our current server here is all cloud based. The only thing we can do is move files over, I am currently on vacation and due back next week...once back I can increase the file size we can accept on this forum.
To me, I will keep an eye on the old forum but I will put my eggs In the current forum as it is more stable. The first step of failure was loosing the site name, we are still on borrowed time until the first hick up with the servers.
My best advice, if someone wants to take it on, start moving the important stuff here, for back up sake.

My best advice, if someone wants to take it on, start moving the important stuff here, for back up sake. I'd be happy to take on several sub topics, but certainly not all. Question is, however, how to do that. Copy & paste won't work. If you can make suggestions, and then 'divvy up' the topics, it could be done. (assuming that 'back in time' link stays up)

The files and attachments can be saved on a thumb drive than loaded into here. The posts can be copied and pasted but that will be time consuming,

Doesn't seem that dragging to a thumb drive, or even to a folder would work. If you have a solution to that, what would I/we do with the files?

I believe that you have to open each post and then "right click". It should give you the option to "save as". At that point you can direct the file to the location of your choice. I did a trial run and it worked. However, it will be time consuming to do all posts from the board.

Av8ator1 said he planned to buy the Domain.
Looks like he is on vacation right now.
Hopefully he can get the domain when he returns and save all the old posts and info on the old forum.
I am willing to make a donation to help save the domain and info.....

Someone needs to ask for it.

I am back from vacation. Previous post is correct, everything lives on a private home server just like a hard drive...it would practice impossible to convert it. Our current forum is web and cloud based so the concern of equipment malfunction is minimized.
If you have manuals, you will need to create and individual thread and upload the manuals. That’s about the only way I know how.

Yes, it seems to be gone.
I tried it today and I could not get in.....
Just a shame that all of that great information has been lost.
There were so many DIY questions and answers, along with pictures, on the old forum.
I hope many of those things will be posted here over time.

Agreed; totally a shame. I am very reluctant to speak of the dead----BUT The blame, however, lies with John for not providing a channel for continuance of the forum. He did not suddenly pass away. His illness had been going on for a long time. It wouldn't have taken much of his time. Possibly an offer and several minutes of effort.
Enough said.
