My windshield vent window opened about 1/3 of the way and stopped. Now it will not open any further or close when using the rocker switch at the helm. Even when it was working, it seemed noisy and very slow. Anyone else experience something similar?
Thanks

Yes my vent window motor went on my 4460 completed died a month or two before we traded it on my 33 OBX. It was working and not working for about a month before that. To close it I simply disconnected the motor from the window by pulling the pin and I let the dealership know it wasn't working when I traded it. I tried everything to sort it and didn't get anywhere in that time. I looked at the fuses, wiring, and such to no avail. The only thing I didn't try was the power the motor from a jump box. In the end I think the motor went and probably needed to be replaced. I don't know what the dealer ended up doing.
My suggestion to you would be to use a meter and see if power is getting to the motor first. Check the fuses if it's not getting there or you could pull the switch out and see if you can jump power there to see if the switch is bad. If you don't have a meter to check power at the motor you can try the jump box approach to see if you can get the motor to move that way. If it does, then it's either the wiring, switch or fuse.

Agree! Disconnect the wires at the motor then with some one else pushing the rocker switch up and down at the helm see if you are getting 12 VDC at those terminals. IF yes, bad motor, if no, fuse/circuit breaker/switch. FYI, our 2001 4160 motor working fine but we dont open and close that vent very often! let us know what you find out!

My window vent had failed as well; I bought a replacement actuator and installed without any issues. I believe there are internal cutoff switches that stop the actuator at full closed/open that can fail causing the unit to not work at all. Mine would intermittently work but the new actuator works flawlessly.

JNelson,
where did you get the actuator? I looked a bit and couldn't find one.

Cant really over open it, just gets tight if closing it too much!

Thanks for all the replies. Turns out in my case one of the wires came loose from the crimp connector under the actuator canvas cover.
