Wasn’t aware it is a 2012. That was the first year for that model and they made a lot of changes in 2013.

Westerbeke 3.5 and 28 express. A match not made in heaven. So on the 2012 the gen is in front of engine. Virtually inaccessible! When the belt ( on the underside of the gen) goes I will need to pull the VP block to remove gen for service.
So I have seen later years with the gen on the side of the block and much more accessible, rather than in front .
Questions - any users out there with the gen located on the side, do you like it ther, is it fully serviceable ??
So has anyone moved their 2012 gen to the side (having to rearrange water heater, batteries and likely a slew of other mechanicals/electric ) or know a yard in Tampa area qualified to pull such a feat ?
Would love to hear any thoughts - thanks all!

major $ to move, just keep oil and filter changes at all other service done and hope it doesnt need to be pulled for any major service? Also, how bad is it to get at the raw water pump to change impellor? Should do that once a year with oil and filter change at minimum!

Yup - just changed oil, plugs and starter solenoid. But when the belt goes it will be dead until it gets pulled. Trying to plan ahead since it always takes more time than expected, but won’t move it til I need to.
So looking for a recommended yard/shop in Tampa area - anyone??
Thanks all!

I have to say the 2 28 Express groups I am in on Facebook are extremely active and lots of good info getting posted on there from 28 Express owners. I am hoping that most of those owners have joined on here after I shared the link with them. I am going to repost on those groups with a link to this thread to see if we can get everyone over here too. This is the link to the "28 Express Club": www.facebook.com/groups/2369026380040540/This is the link to the "28 Express Owners": www.facebook.com/groups/454086955061529/?ref=group_headerDoes anyone know if there is a similar facebook group for the 33 XO or 33 express? Thanks!

gulfsun:
If you are O.K. with trailering for an hour and a half from your area, there's an outfit in Orlando called Florida Marine Customs that does all sorts of modifications on boats. Their phone # is (407)704-5676. Your project may be right up their alley. I've not used them myself, but they were recommended to me for some work I was looking to have done.
I had a similar situation in my old 27' Wellcraft Martinique with a 7.4 litre (454) Volvo. I had the 3 KW Onan MAJB mounted on the port side. That allowed me to do all of the basic generator service including oil change, spark plug change, drain the carb bowl, belt change, water pump impeller change. etc. right in the boat. The only time I had to pull the Onan was when the governor decided to die. That 3KW MAJB is sitting in my garage waiting for it's next tour of duty.
Good luck.

The water fill is at the bow, see the link to the regal website.
That is where ours is, next to anchor locker . We have never used the city water connection on port side so not sure how it interacts with potable water tank level? Would it fill on board potable water tank also when connected to shore water hose?
