I just purchased a 2018 Regal 35 Sport Coupe on Monday, lightly used for two seasons with ~115 hours on the engines. I am excited to find this forum. I just wanted to say hi to everyone. I am a first time boater, so I am sure I will have a lot of questions for this board. I am moving it from from the North Shore of Long Island to it's home on the South Shore this weekend with the help of a Captain. It's about 100 nautical miles trip through NYC, so hopefully I will get to learn a lot about skippering a boat Attachments:

Welcome and congrats on your Regal 35SC.
You will definitely learn a lot on the move from North Shore to the South Shore. I am in Long Island area as well but between CT and LI.
Good luck and feel free to ask questions as I'm sure you will find the people on Regal Owners Forum very helpful.

Welcome aboard! Smart move to get a Captain to do the trip and you learn from that!

That's a nice looking boat. It is never too late to get started on putting a machine like that to good use.
Enjoy it (and maybe start planning that ICW trip down south for the winter).

Thanks everyone. The move was a great experience. I got to drive it all along the North Shore of Long Island, weather was nice and seas were calm for that leg of the trip. It was crazy to drive down the East River and I pulled up right next to Statue of Liberty to take some pictures. When I got to the Verrazano Bridge though we hit some heavy fog. It was a little scary, but was able to use radar to help us navigate safely. Made it safe and sound to its new home, so all good. Now the fun of practicing docking comes and learning weather I am going out to sea or returning from seas, so I know what side of the marker to be on I am looking at potentially upgrading some of the electronics and putting an additional chartplotter in above the light and radio control. Looks like I can squeeze a 7, maybe 9 inch screen in. Anyone have any experience with that? I am reading up a little and since I have glass cockpit system, I may need to get it from Volvo instead of Garmin for it to work right. Attachments:

In terms of adding a second screen, you would get that from Garmin, not Volvo. Garmin makes special units for the Volvo glass cockpit but it still comes from Garmin, 100%, not Volvo. Your best bet is to call Garmin cust service and ask them if you can mix the standard units with the Volvo specific units. I have found their customer support to be excellent.

Funny how I signed up for this last year and yet never really had the time to look it over but I just started and saw your post. My experience with my 19/35 is almost identical. First boat for me and I bought it on a lake in NH with 6 hours and brought to NY. THen I hired a captain for 3 days out on the Great South Bay. I put in a 7" Garmin (732) where the cockpit stereo and spot light lever is and they moved them up. It works amazingly well. I also put on South Bay Strainers since it's so easy to kick up eel grass and sand and I had an engines overheat a few times. No problems with the water intake anymore I dock in Bay Shore. Where are you docking? Stay in touch Larry

I am just seeing your post now raider. I ended up adding a 9" Garmin in the same location . Did a bunch of other upgrades including putting in Seadek and Wireless Camera pointing at AFT...I am actually looking to upgrade now to a 38 GC or XO. Love the 35 SC, just want something a little bigger now that I know I love boating and are more comfortable with 2 seasons under my belt...

You can't go wrong with either the 38 grand coupe or the outboard XO version. We're starting to see a few hit the used markets and the prices coming down a little.
