Hi. I have a 1999 Regal 2760 Commodore. Just to the left of my steering wheel is a black round plug with 2 small indicator lights. Red and Green. Can anyone tell me what it's for? I'm not sure how to attach a picture. Thanks

Most likely the status indicator for the fireboy extinguisher in the engine compartment. The logo and lettering has probably worn off over the years.
Just a guess without seeing a picture.

Thanks but it's not for the fire extinguisher system. How do I attach a picture?

Click "Quote" then in upper right corner = "add attachment" Even being a moderator it took me some time to figure this out myself, just added one FYI , new battery monitor meter to monitor new LiFePO4 200 AH house battery

Not sure, looks aftermarket. You'll probably have to trace the wires to solve that mystery.

That almost has to be a home made 'thing-a-ma-jig'. No respectable mfgr. would make such a thing! I suspect it's on/off lights for something--bilge pump possibly or ER light.

Hard to trace the wires. They get lost in the harness. I've tried switching everything on and off to no avail. I'll keep trying though. Thanks everyone for the input so far.

That's a big hole. I wonder if there was some other gauge there but was removed and replaced with something else - previous owner would know.

I know this is an old thread... Did you ever figure out what it is? I have the same thing on my Regal 2960. I have had the red LED light up before. As I recall, It happened when I plugged in the shore power and an alarm started going off. Maybe a reverse polarity indicator or ground fault?

Same thing on my 2000 4160.
I do think it’s related to fireboy but not positive.
