Have a 2665 regal 05, 5.7 mag MPI
Strugling to get up on plane. At 2000 rpms running fine the more you throttle up worse it runs. Got it up on plan a few times but weak.
1 If I check pressure at fuel rail that should tell me if it is a fuel blockage 40 psi? While trying to throttle up. 2 Or could it just be bad gas? generator ran fine for 2 hours 3 Have inline filter and water seperator.
ethanol gas with marine 360 added gas couple months old maybe 30 gallons in tank.
Plus always have this problem when engine is cold starts right up, but when hot have to give a little throttle ( dont think they are related problems )
Please send me your opinions
Thanks Joe

Sounds like you have water in your fuel that has made it into your fuel/water separator. That will choke high volume of fuel off but allow for lower amounts to pass through. I'd start with changing your fuel/water separator first. I've also had great luck with K100 fuel additive when I found water in my tank after a long winter storage. It allowed me to get the engines started and burn through that bad tank of gas.

Remove fuel filter/water separator. Pour contents into clear glass jar, let set for a minute. If water in fuel, you will see water on bottom of jar, gas floating on top. Also, normally gen set fuel pick up tube about 2" higher in tank than engines pickup tube. Therefore, gen tube not reaching into water in tank bottom but engine feed tube is?

replaced filter poured out contens very clear going to check a inline filter ahead of the water seperator
maybe pick up cloged will check fuel rail pressure
going to try to connect a small electric fuel pump to test fuel line and filters how much fuel should it pump I think this boat burns 11 gals an hour
Looking for easy solution
thank for your help

Also, no easy solutions! Could be fuel pump, partially blocked filters, throttle position sensor, bad IAC valve, etc. Get mechanic to pull codes from your ECU.
