So I bit the bullet and installed an additional Chart Plotter on my 35 SC. I have the Garmin 12" Glass Cockpit (Garmin 7612) and no other gauges, so felt I needed some more real estate. I ended up installing an additional 9" screen (Garmin 943xsv) on the side. One interesting thing is even though both screens are Garmin, I do get a warning that non-Volvo Garmin units may not work correctly with Volvo screen. Everything does seem to work and all I have to click each time the chart plotter boots up. I can't add all the same widget on the new screen, not sure if it's because it's a non-volvo device or if I just need to play with it some more.
I am now planning to add a Garmin GC 100 camera point at the aft of the boat, so I can use it make sure I clear the poles in from of my slip before turning
. Will use the second screen to view the camera while docking. It's WiFi, so I just need to figure out how to get power to it. There does seems to be a little access panel (circle that twists out) under the radar, hoping I can tap into a power wore or NMEA 2000 bus there to grab power.
