Hi all, new to this forum as I have never owned a Regal. In July, I put $12,000 down on a new LS6 to be built later this winter. I think the production slot is in March-April of 2022 with expected delivery somewhere in the May-June timeframe, so I still have time to change my order (like color, engine choice, options, etc.) I am located in Iowa and will mostly be using the boat on a local freshwater lake (Okoboji). Some Questions I have:
Color: The better half and I still can't seem to decide on best color scheme. About the only thing we can agree on at this point is all white with Black Bootstripe and black power tower.
Engine: Since it will mostly be put-putting around with family & friends (groups of say six adults, four kids) I just went with the cheapest 350HP Volvo Penta (I like Merc but the boat dealer is familiar with and works on Volvo so thought I'd keep it simple). Might be some occasional tubing, but by far that would account for maybe 3% of all use. The question I have is - will I be disappointed with the power? Dealer says no, but I just thought I'd ask a second opinion. Dealer thinks only thing higher HP will do for me is more top speed... I don't care about going over 50mph, I just want to be able to get the boat up on plane with ease when taking off.
Windlass: I did order it and stepped up to all chain. I thought chain/rope combo would be sufficient, but what are your thoughts?
Entertainment: I did add the Stereo performance & lighting package ($2,250) as well as the Tower Speakers ($2,300). Should I forgo the Factory installed tower speakers and purchase my own after taking delivery?
Navigation Options: Dual Garmin 943 or Dual Volvo 9" Glass Cockpit - Since chose a volvo engine, I chose the Dual Volvo 9" Glass Cockpit. What are your thoughts on these options?
Lastly, just looking for some general feedback from other owners - how do you like the boat? What would you change? Is the freeboard enough for your liking (after many years on a small 21' Maxum I am ready for this bigger boat).
Interesting Claim on the website:
"Integrated Self Bailing Cockpit System Keep a clean bilge with all your wash down and rain water draining directly overboard"
I can't find any other information on this "self bailing cockpit", but maybe someone on here has some better information on this?
