Greetings,
My wife and I bought a 2000 Commodore 292 and are in the process of bringing her back to original glory. She has great bones but could use and deep clean and detail. Well equipt with twin Merc 5.0 EFI, Bravo 3s and a Genset. This is our first Regal, coming from Four Winns previously. Im going to use this thread for requesting advise, but please dont be shy if there is something i should know about these boat!
To start, Im planning on new electronics with a Nmea 2k network before this boating season. Any one know how to access the wire run from engine room to helm? I peaked at it breifly before she was put up for the winter, but nothing looked obvious.
Thanks in advance and Happy New Year!

Congrats on your new purchase and enjoy the restorative journey. Electronics is a great place to start. I don't have a 292 so I couldn't help you on the routing.

My suggestion would be to start with engines/outdrives, gen set, pumps, batteries, HVAC etc. Service/maintenance . Then when all the expensive stuff is in order do the electronics, etc?

Thats what we spent last season doing, I now know that genset almost better than my kids. The drive bellow and bearings will be gone through before she goes in the water this year. Maintenance baseline is done, now onto the fun stuff.
