I have a 2018 2300 RX Surf with Regal Vue. I keeping getting the follow code, DTC1626: CAN-J1939 Fault. Doesn't happen every time we are out, but fairly often. My local Regal certified shop couldn't really tell me much, they said I had to bring it in when the code was active. As you can imagine that is very difficult to coordinate. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Thinking they could come to boat and pull codes off the ECU?

The Volvo Penta DTC service manual only shows a code DTC 1627 / CAN1-J1939 Rx fault (SPN-629 FMI-12)
Description: The Controller Area Network (CAN) is a serial communication network used to transmit and receive data between intelligent devices. Systems that utilize CAN communication include smart actuators, smart sensors, dash panels and gauges, and other microcomputers. Each smart sensor, actuator, or controller incorporates a CAN transceiver that interprets logic level signals on the network and translates the information into digital data.
This fault will set if CAN communication is enabled and the ECM transceiver is expecting to see network traffic and either does not see traffic (as defined in the diagnostic calibration).
Diagnostic Aids - CAN device(s) - Check Condition - Key On, Engine On - Fault Condition - ECM CAN transciever receive error counts greater than the limit defined in the diagnostic calibration - Corrective Action(s) - Sound audible warning or illuminate secondary warning lamp - Non-emissions related fault
Troubleshooting - Verify that all CAN devices are powered and are properly grounded - Verify that the CAN1 network is properly terminated - Check CAN1 wire routing with respect to noise sources (ignition coils, spark plug coil wires, etc.) and shield if necessary - Check CAN1 (+) and (-) wires for short circuits

Thinking they could come to boat and pull codes off the ECU? I had the boat in for service at the start of summer and they said they couldn't identify anything unless the code was active and to bring it back when it's active.

What if the engine overheating or low oil pressure, then drive it to them to verify?

What if the engine overheating or low oil pressure, then drive it to them to verify? They said since it was a communication code that they wouldn't be able to figure out what was causing the code unless the code was active. Wouldn't be surprised if they are just telling me that because they don't want to spend the time. I had to figure out why the battery switch wasn't allowing the house battery to charge. They just kept recharging the battery and telling me it was dead. They exploded in size and clients so they really struggle keeping up with demand.
