Hi All,
I have a Regal 29 OBX with twin Yamaha 250s. For the past couple years something has been happening with the steering. I will be just idling along in a no wake zone and all of a sudden the boat will start beeping and my steering will be gone. I have to turn the boat off and then turn it back on for the steering to come back. Sometimes I even have to turn the battery completely off and then back on. I have tried to pin point what causes this but can't. I've had it out 3 times this year so far and the first time I had no issues and the most recent time which was a short ride all in a no wake zone and it failed on my twice.
I'm thinking it sounds like something electrical.
Any ideas are greatly appreciated.
Eric

I have the same issue with my Regal 33 OBX, turns out it’s an issue with Yamaha Helm Master. They have replaced the smart sticks and are now waiting on the ECU as I am told that should resolve the issue . The is a KNOWN issue with Yamaha and unless you are on your original warranty you are screwed as they will not cover it under YES
