My newly purchased 2003 Commodore is leaking too much from the rudder stuffing box. After the countless repairs already undertaken I can be pretty confident that they have never been touched in their 20 years. Might well be as simple as a twist or two but has anyone had any success in reaching them? Any tricks or techniques. I can barely reach out and touch them much less get 2 wrenches in there. I only know they are the leaky culprits by sticking a camera in on a stick.
I love my new boat but there have been quite a few head scratchers when it comes to regular maintenance reco's and nonsensical lack of access.

I had a mechanic re-pack the rudder shafts on our 2003 3860 last winter. I don't know how he did it as it is so tight to get to them. But he did it and the bilge is amazingly dry now.

I am having the same problem with my 05 4460 with VP TAMD 75s. The rudder stuffing boxes are leaking and so far inaccessible. Short of removing both Glendenning cablemasters, and the Genset, can't figure out how to access and tighten or replace. It is a failure of Regal to allow a maintenance item like this to be so difficult.
