Just a FYI for anyone experiencing the rubber backing of your carpet coming off in tiny flecks and making a mess. Since I had nothing to lose I turned the carpet upside down in my shop and used compressed air to blow off any old loose rubber bits. I then took a hand wire brush and scraped on it a bit more followed up with more compressed air. I then applied 2 spray cans of Flex Seal to the back. It turned out fantastic! It keeps the carpet from sliding around and encapsulated all the old stuff that was falling off. It's been on there for about 3 months now and I'm really pleased.

I did the same thing a couple of years ago. The coating has held up well.
