I recently had a bilge hose replaced on my 3350 cuddy, wanted to get some perspective on this...I was billed for 6 hours of labor to get this job done. The breaker switch for the bilge pump was also changed. My thoughts are...it's a hose...has two ends and no moving parts...is this excessive or am I over reacting?

It seems excessive. I have found by the time I pay for work to be done twice and their skills as part swappers, I am better with you-tube and doing it myself. Unless it’s engine work needing software to diagnose, I do everything myself. I can be as incompetent as most marina techs and my rates are lower.

Thank you as I agree with your sentiment. I'm nee to the boat and wanted some perspective before I push back on it. I sat in a orthopedic procedure that took half that time! Cheers.

I had CABG heart surgery Sept 15th , hospital billed Medicare $248k and surgeon $9k and took 2 hours in the OR. So, yes, $600 and 6 hours for a hose and circuit breaker took a little too long! Anything you can do yourself do it and should get a quote before giving the go ahead!

I have found that shops at marinas are a huge rip off. They basically hold your boat hostage while they swap out parts (at your expense) until they resolve it. I just moved marinas due to the exclusivity agreement (not disclosed at lease signing ). Oh sure, I can bring my own mechanic in but the cost has to run through the marina shop and is upcharged 20%. So yeah, they ripped you off
