I’m looking to purchase my first cruiser style boat for my wife and I. The boats we are considering based on our budget and expected use are the 35 Sport Coupe and 33 XO. Model year around a 2020. We’ve looked at the 35 it have t had a chance to look at the 33 yet. I’m curious if anyone has experience in both and whether there is a big difference in the way they “feel”. It’s just my wife and I primarily and plan to do some overnight and weekend stays. We were pretty set on a 35 until the thought of having outboards started to creep into my head. The boat will be stored in a fresh water lake ion Georgia. I expect we’ll probably put 75hrs or so a season on it. Thank you for any insight.

Both are great boats! I own a 33 express and one of my dock neighbors has a 35 SC. The 33 is a more open boat. I prefer that style living in the Northeast. The roof opens on the 35 but it is definitely a different driving experience with a mostly closed cockpit. The 35 is wider for sure, but I prefer the cabin in the 33. The king sized mid cabin in the 33 is hard to beat. Also the 33 has slightly better headroom as you move forward in the cabin. The heads on both boats are sufficient. If you decide on the 33, get one with a hardtop. That was a great option added in 2019. The rear lounger on the 35 is longer and wider than the 33. It also sits lower to the swim platform which makes it easier to get on from the platform. Handling rough water seems to be very similar.

Funny you mention that about the openness. I felt more comfortable in the 35 with the top open than I did with it closed. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to check out a 33 next week.

We had dock neighborhood friends that had a 35 coupe they bought brand new, my wife and thought it was a great boat if maybe a little snug room wise for a 35. Not sure how members on here make out with mercruiser joystick system but their 35 with that system was very high maintenance. It is really complicated and was always having electronic and sensor issues. Ruined a couple seasons in a row for them. I would avoid that drivetrain if at all possible. Straight up inboard outboards would be way better.
